Christian Murphy has been upped to senior vice-president, international programming and marketing at A&E Networks. In his new role Murphy will manage the 9,000-hour A&E international catalogue and production and marketing. He will report to Sean Cohan, senior vice-president, A&E Networks.
Murphy will also oversee acquisitions for channels outside the US. He has been at AETN since 2008, before which he was general manager, television and marketing at Foxtel. A&E channels in Australia are joint ventures with the pay TV platform and Murphy managed the A&E brands during his eight-year tenure there.
Christian is truly passionate about television, and since joining AETN, he has proven to be an invaluable member of the A&E Networks international management team, said Cohan. Over the past three years, he has spearheaded a myriad of successful programming, marketing and sales initiatives.
