KDG chooses Teleste for upgrade

Finnish technology company Teleste has been chosen by German cable operator Kabel Deutschland (KDG) to upgrade its HFC-BK network.

Under the framework agreement, Teleste will provide the upgrade, expected to take three years, as a turnkey project. The company will upgrade about 5,000 BK stations (an architecture more or less unique to the German market) from 450MHz to 630 or 862MHz, enabling KDG to provide triple-play services across a number of regions. The project has an estimated value of €5 million.
