Canal Plus among applicants for French DTT VOD

French media regulator the CSA has received six applications to operate video-on-demand services on the country’s digital-terrestrial platform, following its appeal for candidates in November last year.

Canal Plus Distribution has applied to launch its CanalPlay service on the platform, while Canal Plus has separately applied to launch Canal Plus On Demand. Other applicants include Vaziva Conseil, SelecTV, Évazion TV and TV77.

The CSA proposes to license one or more video-on-demand services on the R3 DTT multiplex using technology trialed last year.
