ONO sees customer growth, begins 100Mbps service

Spanish cable operator ONO signed up just over 70,000 new revenue-generating units in the first quarter, taking its total to 4.382 million, 1.6% up on the previous quarter and 3.1% up year-on-year.

According to ONO, 83% of its customer base now takes two or more services. The company also said that 204,000 customers now took higher speed 30Mbps or 50Mbps internet services, out of six million households capable of accessing these services.

The results come as ONO begins to market its new 100Mbps services via Facebook. The launch of 100Mbps internet across its footprint follows successful pilots in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia last year.

ONO had 1.913 million residential customers at the end of the first quarter, up 0.8% on the previous quarter. The company added 5,000 TV customers and 27,000 internet customers, taking its totals to 959,000 and 1.406 million respectively.

ONO posted EBITDA of €179 million for the quarter, up 1.9% year-on-year.
