Dutch telco and pay TV operator KPN has reached an agreement to acquire cable operator Caiway.
KPN said the acquisition would help it strengthen its position in the Dutch TV and broadband market. The telco will provide open access to other operators and service providers, it said.
As of March 31, Caiway served approximately 158,000 customers who subscribed to 143,000 TV, 74,000 internet and 33,000 voice services. KPN said it would respect existing Caiway customer contracts. KPN and Caiway will continue to improve CaiwayÂs current customer services and portfolio given the increasing demand for faster, broader and more reliable service, the company said in a statement.Â
