Picturebox launching on Multimedia Polska

Polish cable operator Multimedia Polska is launching video-on-demand service Picturebox after striking a deal with Universal Pictures.

The move marks the second launch of the service in Poland after the NBC Universal-owned venture struck a deal with the ‘n’ platform. The service, which is also available in the UK, Ireland and Singapore, will see subscribers have access to a raft of Hollywood movies including The Incredibles, Wanted, The Fast and the Furious and Monsters, Inc.

“This is a landmark deal for Picturebox as it establishes yet another major market multiple-platform home for the service,” said Belinda Menendez, president, NBC Universal International Television Distribution and Universal Networks International.
