Connected TVs to grow by 30% a year, says report

Shipments of connected TV devices will grow to over 123 million in 2014, representing a 30% compound annual growth rate, according to the latest report from DisplaySearch.

According to the research group, emerging markets will lead the way. Eastern Europe will grow from 2.5 million shipments in 2010 to over 10 million in 2014, while 33% of flat-panel TVs sold in China in 2013 will have internet capability.

According to DisplaySearch, the market for connected TV devices will become increasingly fragmented, with a split emerging between TVs that enable HbbTV applications and basic video-on-demand and those that provide configurable apps and complex search and navigation systems.
