Mixed results for KPN

Dutch telco and pay TV operator KPN saw the number of subscribers to its DTT service fall but subs to its IPTV climb over the first quarter of the year. This came as the telco reported a fall in revenues by 1.3% to €3.24 billion.

The number of subscribers to its Digitenne digital terrestrial television service fell from 895,000 to 882,000, while customers to its IPTV service grew by 58,000 to 360,000.

Eelco Blok, chief executive of KPN, said, following these results, that it would accelerate the implementation of a new strategy that would see it attempt to improve its TV market share.
”We face negative trends in the Netherlands,” he admitted. “To make our Dutch businesses more robust I have decided to accelerate the investments related to the new strategy. I’m confident that we are taking all necessary measure to strengthen and grow our businesses.”
