Online video service and DVD retailer Lovefilm has closed a deal with Disney that will see it offer subscription video-on-demand and transactional video-on-demand services. â¨
Subscribers to Lovefilm’s service in the UK will be able to stream a raft of classic movies including Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Dead Poets’ Society, Armageddon, Cocktail and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy as part of their subscription service via their home computers, connected TVs or PlayStation3.
â¨The two companies will also offer new titles including Tron: Legacy, Tangled and I Am Number Four via its transactional video-on-demand, pay-per-view service.
â¨”We’re working with innovative partners such as Lovefilm to offer our programming to viewers in ever more flexible, easy to access ways and this agreement builds on our existing DVD rental partnership to further extend the availability of our films amongst UK audiences,” said Catherine Powell, senior vice-president and general manager, media distribution, The Walt Disney Company.
