YouTube makes major investment in UK content providers

YouTube is investing €500,000 in UK digital talent.

The Google-owned video sharing website is launching a scheme called NextUp that will give a €20,000 grant to up to 25 people to develop their content on the site. It will also give successful applicants a place on a creator camp where they will receive training in production techniques.

Entrants must be official YouTube partners, which means content producers who earn money through their accounts. According to YouTube, the number of UK content partners earning over $10,000 (€6,900) a year has increased seven-fold in the last year.
