Ericsson launches new multiscreen software platform

Telco infrastructure provider Ericsson has announced the launch of a new multiscreen delivery platform, the Media Delivery Management System.

The Media Delivery Management System, which replaces the OpenStream Digital Services Platform, offers dynamic routing and asynchronous messaging for the addition of service and applications. It also includes  high-performance, document-oriented database for unlimited transactions, an open architecture using virtualization and cloud computing for increased capacity and disaster recovery,  integrated enterprise management and monitoring for increased operational efficiencies, and adapter-based architecture to support third-party apps and services.

“A decade ago we invented the back office system to respond to a burgeoning on-demand TV market. Today we are redefining it to address an increasingly interactive world where TV blends with mobility and social media,” said Andrew Rowe, head of application software product management at Ericsson’s solution area TV. “The Media Delivery Management System isn’t just a next generation solution – it’s a game changer. It brings service providers unparalleled business agility with transactional speed, scale, and control, and exponentially enhances their ability to satisfy the multiscreen generation.”
