TV Maastricht has become the latest local TV channel in the Netherlands to make the move to digital. The channel will be available via the network of cable operator Ziggo.
The channel will continue to be available in analogue.
Ziggo had previously announced a programme to assist local TV channels in its footprint to make the move to digital. The operator is currently negotiating with local programming councils on the future composition of its analogue tier in different parts of its network. The operator wants recommendations to be in place by the end of the year, and has expressed its hope that these will be based on the preferences of viewers, which it says show relatively little variation between different areas of the country. Ziggo wants to progressively reduce the size of the analogue tier in order to continue to build its digital offer.
