BT Vision tops 500k subs, adds iPlayer

BT Vision, the IPTV service operated by UK telco BT, added 24,000 subscribers in the quarter to end-September, taking the total to 520,000.

BT also said it is making the BBC’s catch-up service, iPlayer, available to BT Vision subs and that viewing of subscription services was up 10% quarter on quarter. About 50,000 customers take the Sky Sports service, which BT has been carrying at a reduced rate to Sky itself since August.
BT recorded second quarter revenues of £4.97 billion (€5.79 billion), a 3% decrease year-on-year. Pre-tax profit for the quarter was £496 million, a 13% increase on the corresponding period a year earlier.
