Nilesat takes additional Eutelsat capacity at 7° West

Egyptian satellite operator Nilesat has signed a 10-year contract for five transponders from Eutelsat at the latter’s 7° West position. Nilesat will initially take capacity on Eutelsat’s Atlantic Bird 4A satellite, which will be transferred to Atlantic Bird 7, scheduled for launch and deployment at 7° West in 2011.

The contract is part of a strategic agreement signed by the two satellite operators in March last year to collaborate in optimizing resources at the 7° West position, which is used by both companies.
