RTL 2 HD to launch in December

Commercial broadcaster RTL plans to launch an HD version of its German RTL 2 channel in early December.

RTL 2 technical director Stefan Uhl told a German website that RTL 2 HD, which will launch on the Astra satellite platform, will be a simulcast of the existing channel. He gave no date for the launch of the channel on cable and IPTV platforms.
