Electric Sofa gives details on trio of UK channel launches

UK company Electric Sofa has fleshed out its plans for the launch of three thematic channels on the BSkyB DTH platform in the UK. It announced in July that it would launch two digital film channels, but few other details were available.


Now some channel name and programming details have emerged. The UK film channel, featuring British and British-funded movies, will be called FilmGB. A second channel will feature contemporary and classic international movies targeting 16-to-34s and a third offering will be general entertainment, with, Electric Sofa said, a mix of acquired, commissioned and in-house produced programming. The names of these two channels are not known. The company has inked a content deal with ITN Productions, which will deliver three half-hour popular culture programmes to the channels per week.
