ASBU moves forward with MENOS

The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) has completed a series of tests to help them choose suppliers for their planned IP-based inter-member distribution network MENOS.

The ASBU tested the H.264/AVC products of Atec, Ateme, Cisco, International Datacasting, Ericson, Fujitsu, Hitachi, and Thomson. The ASBU is creating a Eurovision-like interconnect to deliver 720p/50-quality HD video at between 10Mbps and 20Mbps depending on the nature of the content.
