Belgacom edges towards million IPTV customers

Belgian cable operator Belgacom has moved closer to the one million subscriber mark with the addition of 52,000 new subscribers in the third quarter of 2010. The company saw the 39% year-on-year increase, taking its total to 920,000. This comes as Belgacom announced a solid first nine months revenue rise of 10.6% to €4.95 billion.

Belgacom chief executive Didier Bellens said: “I am happy to inform you that we ended the first nine months of this year with solid financial results. This is a remarkable performance, given that our business was strongly affected by regulatory measures in the third quarter. Despite the fierce competition from cable, we continued to book successes with Belgacom TV, which at end-September already boasted 920,000 customers.”
