Turner Broadcasting System is to launch a dedicated feed of Cartoon Network for the Netherlands and the Flemish-speaking part of Belgium on November 17, DTVE Daily has learned.
Turner plans to kick off local programming for the Dutch-language channel with a St Nicholas Day-themed weekend (when Dutch children receive Christmas presents), Sinterklass Surprise, on December 4-5, featuring a line-up of double bills alongside competitions to win programming-related merchandise from the Ben 10 and Bakugan shows. It will continue with tailored events tapping into local holidays and traditions, and Turner expects that the channel will also carry locally-produced content in the future.
The Dutch channel, which joins existing feeds for the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, the Nordic region and central and eastern Europe, will be fully managed by Turners CEE and Benelux team headed by Gordana Duspara Moriarty, including marketing and PR functions.
