Frances economy and finance minister is to raise the maximum contribution to which Canal Plus is liable to support domestic audiovisual production from 4.5% to 6.7% of its revenues, according to local reports.
The move follows the governmentÂs decision to row back on a plan to raise the level of VAT on pay-TV subscriptions from 5.5% to 19.6%. Canal Plus contributes to the COSIP, a fund designed to support French cinema production.
The contributions made by ISPs to COSIP remain unchanged for now, despite a decision to subject their triple-play subscriptions to a uniform VAT rate of 19.6%, according to the reports.
