BSkyB reveals programming line-up for 3D channel

UK pay-TV operator BSkyB’s 3D TV channel will go live this Friday. The channel will be available at no extra charge to Sky Plus HD customers with a 3D TV and a top-tier subscription.

The channel will kick off with 3D coverage of the golf Ryder Cup this weekend, followed by live coverage of football, rugby and boxing, with an average of three live sports events each week, Sky said.

Live Barclays Premier League matches in October and November include the Manchester, Merseyside and north London derbies, plus Manchester City v Arsenal on October 24 and Liverpool v Chelsea on November 7.

Other 3D events include Rugby Union autumn internationals in November, the world heavyweight title fight between WBA World champion David Haye and former Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison, and the October 12 international football match between Scotland and Spain.

Sky will also air a number of 3D movies beginning with Ice Age: Dawn of The Dinosaurs. Movies available on pay-per-view will include StreetDance UK, Garfield’s Pet Force, Step Up 3 and A Christmas Carol, followed by Toy Story 3 3D in January. The channel will also air a number of factual and arts programmes in 3D, including The Prince’s Trust Rock Gala, Flying Monsters 3D, and The History Channel’s Universe.
