France’s Hadopi law set in motion

France’s Hadopi “three strikes” anti-piracy law has finally reached implementation, according to local reports.

According to the reports, ISPs Orange, Numéricâble, Free and SFR have been contacted by the new commission for the protection of rights and will have been given initial lists of IP addresses to identify. ISPs are obliged to identify relevant subscribers within eight days of receiving a demand from the commission. A number of issues remain outstanding however, including, who will bear the cost of identifying the subscribers alleged to have broken the law.
