Metrological licenses IneoQuest technology

Netherlands-based media technology company Metrological Media Innovations has licensed video quality assurance specialist IneoQuest Technologies’ IQVeriStream adaptive bit-rate monitoring technology.

The move will allow Metrological to include the IneoQuest quality assurance metrics for adaptive bit-rate video in its MediaConnect TV system.

“Customers are requesting hybrid broadcast-broadband set top box and television designs to handle more and more over-the-top streaming of video via adaptive HTTP-based streaming methodologies,” said Marc Todd, president and CEO of IneoQuest. “As has already been established in the IPTV and cable sectors, the success of delivering paid-for, premium content in this way will be heavily dependent on the quality of experience, and adaptive bit rate networks are just as susceptible to video transmission challenges as existing IPTV networks. By including our IQVeriStream metrics in the MediaConnect TV offering, Metrological is offering customers the opportunity to get a head-start on quality assurance and protect their investments.”

Metrological specialises in middleware and reference designs based on Intel platforms to deliver converged internet and broadcast services.
