The BBCÂs proposal to freeze its annual licence fee for two years, until 2013, was welcomed by UK culture secretary Jeremy Hunt yesterday, but only partially accepted.
Hunt accepted the freeze for the first year, but said that the option of cutting the fee in 2012-13 remains an option. The BBC was due to renegotiate the licence fee settlement in 2013.
