TF1’s Paolini calls for end to France Télévisions tax

Nonce Paolini, the CEO of French commercial broadcaster TF1, has called for an end to the tax levied on broadcasters to support the activities of public broadcaster France Télévisions.

In an interview with financial dailyLes Echos, Paolini also said that if the public broadcaster was going to be prevented from carrying advertising after 20:00 in the evening, that should mean the suppression of all forms of sponsorship on its channels, and called for “rigorous measures” to avoid policies that destabilised the sector, for example by restricting the time allocated to advertising slots during the day. Paolini called for a removal on restrictions that would allow commercial channels to develop new advertising revenues streams.
