Fox eyes Middle East channel launches

Fox International Channels is eyeing the launch of more channels in the Middle East as the News Corp-backed company continues to expand in the region.

The company currently operates 12 channels in the region including Fox Movies, Fox Series and Star World. Rohit D’Silva, general manager, Fox International Channels, Middle East, told local press that it was looking to launch even more entertainment channels in the area.

This follows a number of significant deals in the region earlier this year including a joint venture with Abu Dhabi-based media company twofour54 and News Corp’s acquisition of a 9% stake in broadcaster Rotana Group. The company also moved the operational base of its pay-TV channels from Hong Kong to Abu Dhabi following the launch of National Geographic Abu Dhabi, a free-to-air factual entertainment network.
