Bertelsmann revises guidance after strong RTL results

Bertelsmann has raised full-year guidance after several of its divisions, notably pan-European broadcast group RTL, reported healthy growth in advertising revenues in the first half of the year.

The media conglomerate cited RTL’s strong performance and that of its newspaper and publishing divisions as it lifted full-year profit guidance to over €500m. Previous expectations were for profit in the €400 to €500m range.

“We are raising our forecast for the full year,” said Bertelsmann’s CFO Thomas Rabe. “Instead of the stable revenue and operating EBIT performance predicted at the Annual Press Conference in March, we now expect to see a year-on-year increase in both.”
