STV considers overseas deals, eyes online pay plan

STV, the Scottish ITV franchise holder, has told news wires that it is looking at possible acquisition opportunities in international territories. “Part of our strategy is to be more and more at the forefront of innovative deals with companies based outside of the UK,” CEO Rob Woodward told Dow Jones. It is also considering charging for some of its TV shows online.

Separately, the Guardian has reported that STV has run up over £1m (€1.2m) in bills in recent months as its legal battle with ITV continues. STV launched a £35m action against ITV last November, which followed a £38m claim for alleged unpaid network programme budget contributions.
