Canal Digital appoints future Telenor Broadcast CEO

Nordic pay-TV operator Canal Digital has appointed Patrik Hofbauer as CEO, with the intention of promoting him to CEO of Telenor Broadcast, Canal Digital’s owner.

Hofbauer, who joins from Clear Channel Sweden, will take control of the Nordic region’s largest TV distributor, which broadcasts to over three million households. Telenor Broadcast’s current CEO Christian Albech will resign in 2012, at which point Hofbauer will take over.

“With the appointment of Patrik, we assemble the management of the Canal Digital companies in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. We believe this is the right way to go. Patrik’s leadership and strategic skills will be most valuable and important in the further development of Canal Digital and Telenor,” said Albech.
