Darren Childs confirmed as UKTV boss

Darren Childs has been confirmed as the new CEO of UK digital channels group UKTV. Childs is currently managing director of channels at BBC Worldwide and will start in his new role in September.

He is already a director of UKTV and his appointment as CEO was widely expected. The company, a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and Virgin Media, has also recruited a new CFO. Jan Gooze-Zijl will take that role and joins from UK MSO Virgin Media.

“This is an exciting time to lead UKTV,” Childs said. “Creating innovative new commercial models made available to broadcasters through the recent evolution in digital delivery and changes in audience demand will add further edge and continue to secure UKTV’s place as the owner and creator of must have brands for audiences, platforms advertisers and shareholders alike.”
