S&T gets Access to HbbTV

Interactive TV specialist Strategy & Technology (S&T) has signed a licensing agreement with software company Access that will enable it to offer a HbbTV solution that can integrate with any digital TV receiver. Under the agreement, S&T has secured the rights to re-distribute Access’s NetFront Browser and associated HbbTV extensions.

By combining the technologies with its existing software interfaces, S&T said it will offer existing RedKey MHEG licensees a “simple and efficient route to HbbTV” and will offer new licensees the opportunity to address HbbTV and MHEG markets in a single design. 

HbbTV is a pan-European initiative to harmonise the hybrid delivery of video and other content to consumers through set-tops and internet connected TVs.
