Romanian regulator extends DTT deadline

Romanian communications regulator ANCOM has extended a deadline for bids from seven companies interested in operating the first two multiplexes on the country’s proposed digital-terrestrial TV network.

The extension, as a result of requests made by the interested parties, means that the candidates now have until September 17 to submit their applications, rather than the previous deadline of the end of August. ANCOM will decide the winning bid for the first multiple on October 18, and that for the second on October 28.

Applicants to operate the multiplexes include pay-TV provider RCS & RDS, Romtelecom, French transmission services provider TDF, Societatea Naþionalã de Radiocomunicaþii, Media Sat, Austrian transmission provider Österreichische Rundfunksender and General Satellite Sofia.
