Ziggo and UPC take court action against Tele2 ads

Dutch cable operators Ziggo and UPC have initiated a legal action against alternative network operator Tele2 over the latter’s advertising campaign for its analogue cable service.

Tele2 is offering analogue cable services over Ziggo and UPC’s networks as a result of regulator Opta’s mandating the cable operators to allow rivals to resell their analogue offers. However, Ziggo and UPC have taken exception to a series of ads launched by Tele2 offering analogue cable for €5. The pair have complained that the ads are misleading as customers have to sign up to a full triple-play offer to qualify.
