Telenet boost multi-play customers

Belgian cable operator Telenet reported that 30% of its customers took triple-play services at the end of the second quarter, with 55% taking multi-play bundles.

The operator, majority-owned by Liberty Global, said that it managed to slow down the rate of total cable TV net losses while increasing its market share in all product segments.

Telenet had 2.303 million cable TV subscribers at the end of June, down 3%, but its digital TV base grew by 31% to 1.118 million. Broadband subs stood at 1.174 million, up 11%, while fixed telephony subscribers grew 12% to 780,000 and mobile custoimers grew by 68% to 170,000.

Telenet grew its ARPU to €38.40 from €38 year-on-year. The company posted revenue of €638.6m for the six months to June, up 11%year-on-year, while operating profit rose from €155.9m to €170.8m.
