Orange sees strong TV subscriber growth

France Telecom/Orange had a total of 3.6 million digital TV customers at the end of June, a 34% year-on-year increase with more than 900,000 new subscribers signing up.

Orange had 3.051 million IPTV and satellite TV customers in France at the end of the first half, up 30% on the previous year. The company’s Orange Sport and Orange Cinema Series premium channels had a total of 752,000 subscribers, compared with 393,000 a year earlier. The company reported 5.3 million paid uses of its video-on-demand service in the first half of 2010, up 48% year-on-year. Orange France’s broadband subscriber base at the end of the period was 8.989 million, up slightly from 8.68 million a year earlier.

Polish subsidiary TPSA had 453,000 digital TV customers at the end of June (over both IPTV and satellite), up from 239,000 a year earlier. 

France Telecom reported first-half revenues of €22.144bn, down 2.2%, and EBITDA of €7.745bn, down from €8.039bn.
