Fujitsu to supply Fibrecity UK FTTH project

Fujitsu’s fibre infrastructure arm i3 Group is to supply equipment to the UK’s Fibrecity network fibre-to-the-home project.

Under the terms of the deal, Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe will take responsibility for laying the infrastructure that will connect up to one million UK properties to the Fibrecity network within the next four years. The initial rollout will be to the 68,000 homes in Dundee in Scotland.

Fibrecity, which has already begun deploying its FTTH network in Bournemouth, plans to expand to Derby, Halton, Nottingham, Plymouth and York. Further cities under consideration for networks include Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol and Ipswich.
