Childs could be heading to UKTV

The head of BBC Worldwide Channels Darren Childs is set to be named CEO of channel operator UKTV, according to press reports.

Childs is currently managing director of BBC Worldwide Channels, where he oversees various international brands, including BBC America. He has also held executive roles at Sony and worked in Asia as director of programming for MTV Asia.

UKTV, which is 50% owned by BBC Worldwide, lost its former CEO David Abrahams when he moved to Channel 4 in January. The broadcaster has a turnover of about £200m (€240m) a year. Cable operator Virgin Media is expected to sell its stake in the company soon.
