Desmond moves closer to Five acquisition

British publishing baron Richard Desmond has moved closer to acquiring commercial broadcaster Five from RTL and is reportedly set to sign a formal offer in the next 24 hours.

Desmond, who owns the Daily Express and Sunday Express and OK! magazine, has reportedly offered £104m (€123m) for the broadcaster and has also promised to bear the costs of any possible regulatory investigations.
