CSA announces plans for new services on digital-terrestrial platform

French media regulator the CSA has announced a series of new initiatives to expand the services available on the country’s digital-terrestrial platform.

The regulator has launched an appeal for candidates for a new pay-TV channel on the DTT platform’s R3 multiplex. The CSA has set a deadline of October 15 for candidates to submit their applications ahead of a decision in December and delivery of authorisation in January. The remaining free capacity on the multiplex will be retained for the launch of new on-demand services, for which a call for candidates will be launched in September.

The CSA is also planning to launch a call for candidates for a further two pay-TV channels on the R7 multiplex in the third quarter of this year, and a further call for candidates to launch two HD channels on the same multiplex.
