GlobeCast rebrands and expands fibre network

Broadcast services provider GlobeCast has rebranded its international fibre network, which is now called the GlobeCast Backbone Network.

The network offers interconnection to facilities and partners via 32 points of presence, most recently including Johannesburg and São Paulo. GlobeCast said the newly expanded network aims to provide a cost-effective way for content to be moved quickly and securely around the world, and to allow broadcasters using the network to easily access an existing community of partners and facilities once the content reaches its destination.

The network spans five continents and uses over 92,000 km of fiber in Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.
