BBC iPad news app hits one million downloads

BBC Worldwide’s advertising-funded global iPad news app has been downloaded one million times since it launched, according to Americas senior vice-president Miranda Cresswell.

Cresswell, speaking at the paidContent Mobile conference in New York, said that advertising revenue had grown threefold since it launched ads on the platform last year. The BBC was granted permission to show ads internationally on its websites via BBC Worldwide three years ago. The BBC is not currently allowed to provide apps in the UK.
