Orange named as possible Canvas partner

Mobile operator and internet service provider Orange UK is in talks to join the Project Canvas consortium in place of the departed commercial channel Five, according to various UK press reports.

Orange has previously considered launching an IPTV service in the UK and last year was identified by the press as a possible bidder for Kangaroo, the BBC-led online TV project that was abandoned by the corporation at the behest of regulator Ofcom and ultimately sold to Arqiva, now also a Canvas partner.
