Meek reportedly set for Canvas chairman role

Kip Meek, a former chief policy partner at UK regulator Ofcom, is set to be named chairman of Project Canvas, the planned UK connected TV platform for Freeview, according to UK press reports.

According to the Guardian, Canvas will make the announcement this week after all the partners involved in the project, the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, BT, Talk Talk and Arqiva, agreed the appointment. It is understood that although Meek made the final shortlist for candidates, he was not one of the final two candidates Canvas was reportedly talking to in recent weeks.

Meek left Ofcom in 2007 and is currently a board member of the Broadband Stakeholder Group and Ingenious Consulting.
