2014 World Cup will be in 3D, online and on iPad

An ESPN and Interactive Advertising Bureau study into viewing habits of sports fans reveals that 58% expect to watch the 2014 soccer World Cup in 3D, over half of 16-to-34s expect to watch it online and 20% of all respondents anticipate viewing games on an Apple iPad.

The research asked fans in the UK how they are watching the current World Cup and how they anticipate viewing the next competition in four years time when it will be held in Brazil. Over a quarter of respondents said they will be watching midweek games online while at work during the current tournament and a third said they are more likely to watch games online this time than they were in 2006.

About 8% said they are more likely to watch World Cup games on their cell phones this time, while 11% said they expect to watch games from the 2014 tournament on their phones.
