ITV Live claims one million World Cup views

ITV’s online service for the World Cup, ITV Live, attracted one million viewers in its first week, the commercial broadcaster said.

ITV said its “dual screen” service that combines live online footage of matches with various interactive options, including action replays, real-time statistics, voting tools and instant comments from fans and experts, saw a peak of 240,000 unique users during the Holland v Denmark game. The service registered an average of 130,000 unique users for each match during the opening week of the World Cup, which kicked off in South Africa on June 11.

ITV said it had worked closely with Akamai to optimise content delivery on ITV Live through the content delivery network provider’s HD network.
