German cable operator Kabel Deutschland has delayed the launch of its digital video recorder service until the second half of the year, closely followed by the launch of a video-on-demand service.
However, analysts are still optimistic about the company, noting that growth accelerated in its latest results. “The major premium TV push has been delayed by a few months with the initial DVR launch date of 2Q10 now indicated in H2, although should be autumn, with the VOD launch to follow shortly after. Those launches are critical to KDG’s ability to increase mid-term ARPUs,” noted investment bank Morgan Stanley. “Stable broadband adds and new product launches in 2H should help maintain top line momentum,” it added.
