Amino signs Romtelecom deal, reports positive trading update

IPTV set-top specialist Amino has signed a deal with Romanian telco Romtelecom to supply DVRs.

Romtelecom’s Dolce Interactiv IPTV service has rolled out in ten cities, including the capital Bucharest. Amino is providing Mood400 DVRs, which can deliver various service, including VOD, in-home media sharing and instant messaging.

Separately, Amino has also delivered a half-year trading update: “Continuing on from the strong order intake in the second half of the last financial year, the company is pleased to report first half revenues and unit sales booked in the period and a healthy order backlog at 31 May 2010. Gross margins are expected to be lower than in previous years as a result of foreign exchange rate movements, higher component prices and increased sales to higher volume Tier 2 customers.” Amino said it expects to report a ‘mark to market’ loss of approximately £500,000 (£606,206) on the remaining foreign exchange contracts. However, after these items, the company expects to report a significantly reduced loss compared to the 2009 figure of £3.1m. At 31 May 2010, Amino’s cash balance stood at £13m compared with £9m at November 30, 2009.
