SFR launches SVOD and two channels on same screen

French service provider SFR has launched a number of new TV services to its subscribers.

Pass Cinéma is a new video-on-demand service, providing a choice of up to 50 films a month for an initial subscription of €4.99 until September 30 and €9.99 thereafter. The choice includes films from Disney, Sony and NBC Universal such as Spider Man, Intolerable Cruelty, Terminator 3 and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, with at least five in HD and a list that will change each month.

Another new service, Le Double Direct, will for the first time allow viewers to view two channels simultaneously via picture-in-picture, allowing the viewer to zap through different channels while maintaining the main picture. The service is available as part of SFR’s €29.90 a month Neufbox offer. Also included in the general offer is Le Double Tuner, which allows viewers with DVR-equipped boxes to watch one channel and record another.

SFR has also launched 19 new channels including five in HD.

In the first quarter, SFR began marketing its broadband services more actively to its mobile database, helping to push its new additions up significantly. The service provider is also reported to be planning a new 3D-compatible version of its Neufbox.
