HBO shows to be available on PS3 in the US

In the latest move to position its games console as an entertainment centre, Sony has struck a deal with Time Warner in the US to offer HBO programmes through the PlayStation 3.

The deal reported by Dow Jones, will allow PS3 users to pay a premium price  to download episodes from 11 HBO series including Big Love, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage, but only about 11 months after they appear on HBO on TV. Episodes of True Blood will be available for US$2.99 (€2.44).

Sony has already signed deals with other studios and with film rental service Netflix.
