The chairman of UK ISP TalkTalk, one of the partners in video-on-demand service Canvas, has rejected criticism from pay TV operators BSkyB and Virgin Media.
Charles Dunstone told UK newspaper The Guardian that criticism of the BBC-backed project was unfounded as Canvas is a completely open platform, anyone can join itÂ. The UK Office of Fair Trading this week said Canvas does not breach UK competition regulation. BSkyB and others argue that Canvas, which is effectively part-backed by the UK licence fee, gives some of its rivals an unfair advantage in the UK VOD sector.
